How to Go Skiing in Hogadon, Wyoming

Hogadon Ski Area is a small winter sports area about 11 miles south of Casper, Wyoming. With close to half of the ski runs at a black diamond rating, this area boasts great terrain and tough trails for the advanced skier.

Book a Ski Trip to Hogadon

Step1
Find a variety of hotels and motels in Casper, from famous national chains to locally owned and operated inns. Go to the Web site of the Casper Convention and Visitors Bureau (see Resources below), or call (800) 852-1889 to get a list of hotels and campgrounds.
Step2
Reserve a room in one of the larger chain hotels in Casper and you can expect to pay moderate prices, depending on your travel dates.
Step3
Book a room in one of Casper's three bed and breakfast inns. These small, privately run inns offer personal service and rooms are generally inexpensive.

Arrange Transportation to Hogadon

Step1
Travel 15 minutes from downtown Casper, Wyoming, to reach the Hagodon ski area. It is located on Casper Mountain and can be reached from Hwy 251 or Casper Mountain Road.
Step2
Reach Casper, Wyoming, by air when you fly into Natrona County International Airport. There you can rent a car for your drive up to Hogadon.

Plan Your Ski Trip to Hogadon

Step1
Ski at Hogadon during their open season, generally from late November through March. Get a snow report online at the Ski Central Snow Reports Web page for Hogadon (see Resources below). Hogadon Ski Area currently has no Web site, but you can also call the ski area directly at (307) 235-8499 for information on conditions.
Step2
Bring your board and enjoy the Hogadon Ski Area's terrain park, with features such as table tops, spines and rails as well as fun boxes.
Step3
Book your ski or snowboard lesson in advance. Reservations are required for all classes.
Step4
Rent your gear at Hogadon or bring your own. Though this is a relatively small ski area compared to other resorts in Wyoming, there are rental facilities where you can rent ski or board equipment on the day of your trip.
Step5
Ride up to the more than 23 trails at Hogadon on two double chair lifts, which can move up to 2,500 visitors per hour.
Step6
Book your trip for mid-week to have the slopes to yourself. This area is open seven days a week but sees the biggest crowds on the weekends and holidays.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can expect a 600-foot vertical drop and an elevation of 8,000 feet at the Hogadon Ski Area.
  • There is no booking Web site for Hogadon.
  • Consider booking nearby accommodations online through a third-party Web site to get discount prices.
