Found at the base of High Park Peak and just above Meadowlark Lake, Big Horn Ski Resort in Wyoming is known for deep powder and great terrain features. Booking a ski trip to Wyoming, you can depend on consistent snow coverage, but the resort at Big Horn has back up—snow guns that guarantee good coverage throughout the season.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Book a Ski Trip to Big Horn

Step1
Book overnight accommodations across Meadowlark Lake from Big Horn at either of the resort's two ski lodges there, the Meadowlark Lake and the Deer Haven. Refurbished rooms and cottages, as well as rustic cabins and RV hookups, can be found at these resorts. Luxury accommodations with spectacular views are available at the Ranch House at the Deer Haven resort. Call 888-BIG-HORN for reservations.
Step2
Choose your price range. Budget accommodations can be found at the RV sites (if you have an RV, of course), while motel rooms, cottages and cabins tend to be more moderately priced. Rooms in the Swiss Chalet or Ranch House at the Deer Haven Resort can be pricey.
Step3
Call the resort's reservation line at (888) BIG-HORN to book your season passes for skiing at Big Horn Ski Resort. You can also reserve lift tickets through the reservation hotline.
Step4
Book your trip for the resort's open season, from mid-December through late March. The resort is open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday during the season, as well as most holidays.
Step5
Book the entire resort or just the lodge on days when the resort is not open to the public. The lodge can be reserved by the hour and comes with a full kitchen for catering and entertaining.

Arrange Transportation to Big Horn

Step1
Fly into three different airports in close proximity to Big Horn Ski Resort. The Buffalo airport is located just 40 miles away, while the Worland Municipal Airport is 45 miles awat and the Sheridan Municipal Airport is 77 miles.
Step2
Drive to the resort from states nearby such as Colorado and Montana. Big Horn is located a little over 400 miles from Denver and about 157 miles from the historic Little Big Horn Battlefield in Montana.

Plan Your Ski Trip to Big Horn

Step1
Ski down 800 vertical feet and 14 runs at Big Horn; some are as long as 1.5 miles. Snowboarding is allowed on all runs and, of course, in the resort's terrain park.
Step2
Catch the earliest lift at 9 a.m. at Big Horn. The lifts close at 4 p.m.
Step3
Find three lifts in operation at Big Horn. One double, one triple and one hand-tow lift will get you to all the trails at this resort.
Step4
Keep your eyes on the Web site for updates on continuing improvements to this relatively new resort. In the works are plans for night events including skiing, tubing and sledding.
