Mount Ashwabay offers skiing for all levels of skiers on the slopes in Wisconsin. The Mount Ashwabay Recreation Area provides snow and snow sports with a view of Lake Superior and nearby lodging for your trip.

Book Lodging and Transportation for Mount Ashwabay

Step1
Book your trip accommodations in Bayfield, Wisconsin, via the Wisconsin Department of Tourism Web site (see Resources below) or call (800) 432-8747.
Step2
Choose from moderately priced bed and breakfasts, hotels and inns laden with Victorian charm in Bayfield. Mount Ashwabay is just southwest of this northern Wisconsin city.
Step3
Fly to Ford Airport (IMT). Take Hwy 13 to Ski Hill Road.
Step4
Rent a car during your stay in Bayfield to visit Mount Ashwabay Ski Area. There are no public transportation options in the city of Bayfield.

Get to Know Your Ski Destination

Check the local snow report before your trip via the Ski Engine Web site (see Resources below).
Step2
Plan to travel to Mount Ashwabay from December through March—their busiest months—for the most activity availability. The area is open year round, but different areas are open at different times of the year depending on the weather.

Know that the Mount Ashwabay Recreation Area is operated by the nonprofit organization Ashwabay Outdoor Educational Foundation. The slopes are located at 325225 Ski Hill Road, Bayfield, WI 54814. Call (715) 779-3227 for more information.

Check out the size of the slopes at Mount Ashwabay. The base elevation is 963 feet with a summit elevation of 1,286 feet.

Prepare for the Slopes in Mount Ashwabay

Prepare to enjoy 15 trails offered in the ski area. The longest trail run on Mount Ashwabay is 1,500 feet.

Expect the resort to have five surface lifts. Mount Ashwabay has a summit elevation of 1,286 feet and a 317-foot vertical drop.

Stretch your legs on the 65 acres of land available for skiing. Check out the 40 km cross country area of the resort if you are a long distance skiing enthusiast.

Enjoy Nordic and Alpine skiing, both offered on the slopes of Mount Ashwabay. Experts should especially enjoy the 15 percent of trails reserved exclusively for them.
