How to Go Skiing in Granite Peak, Wisconsin

With over 70 challenging runs and an amazing 700-foot vertical drop, Granite Peak is easily one of the largest ski areas in the Midwest. Test out your skills on one of the two mogul runs or take it easy on the beginner runs. Located in Wausau, Wisconsin, this ski resort is the perfect ski trip destination for skiers of all skill levels.

    Book Accommodations Near Granite Peak

  1. Step 1

    Book trip accommodations through the Wausau/Central Wisconsin Convention & Visitors Bureau via its Web site (see Resources below) or by calling (888) WI-VISIT.

  2. Step 2

    Stay at a cute and cozy bed and breakfast in Wausau, Wisconsin, located just a few minutes away.

  3. Step 3

    Book a couple of nights in a Northwoods lodge, and be sure to look for special discounts for families, romantic weekends and weekday stays.

  4. Step 4

    Get the lowest rates on accommodations when you book a room at one of the chain hotels or motels at the base of Granite Village. Look for low rates on rooms with a queen bed or a sleeper sofa.

    Leave your equipment at home and rent snowboards, boots, skis and helmets as needed. Rent online for significant savings and to ensure equipment is available during the peak season.

  7. Step 2

    Hone your skills with a group or private lesson available from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Save $5 by signing up for a lesson online before you arrive.

  8. Step 3

    Buy lift tickets and ski from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. or buy a two-day pass for a reasonable price. Hit the slopes at night and pay even less for a lift ticket.

    Get to Granite Peak Resort from nearby Wausau, Wisconsin, by taking Highway 51 to North Mountain Road.
