How to Go Skiing in Christie Mountain, Wisconsin

The Blue Hills of Northern Wisconsin are home to Christie Mountain Ski and Snowboard area. You'll find traditional skiing as well as snow tube runs, cross-country ski trails and plenty of rails and tabletops for snowboarding enthusiasts. The ski season runs from late November through early March with an average annual snowfall of 60 inches.

Book Accommodations on Christie Mountain

Step1
Book a Christie Mountain log cabin in Bruce, Wisconsin, but expect to pay moderately expensive prices. While the on-site accommodations at Christie Mountain do not yet offer online booking, you can make ski trip reservations by calling (715) 868-7800.
Step2
Book accommodations by contacting the Wisconsin Department of Tourism online (see Resources below) or by calling (800) 432-8747.
Step3
Get to Christie Mountain by heading northwest following the intersection of highways 8 and 40 on Hwy O in Bruce.
Step4
Look for low-cost lodging in a nearby motels in Cameron, Weyerhaeuser and Rice Lake, where you can book rustic rooms starting at moderate prices.
Step5
Log onto the Web site for Christie Mountain (see Resources below) and get a snow report. Be sure to check for open runs and get an extended forecast for your trip.

Ski Christie Mountain

Step1
Buy a lift ticket in person, as online ticketing isn't yet available. Keep in mind lift ticket prices vary according to the day of the week with the cheapest rates offered on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
Step2
Rent skis, snowboards and cross country skis on-site to avoid lugging your gear around while you travel.
Step3
Book a ski lesson and sharpen your skills. Lessons are offered every hour on the hour, and they're an incredible bargain for beginners.
Step4
Explore the 14 acres of slopes and the 350-foot vertical drop. Spend the day on one of the seven beginner trails or just get in some practice there. Hit intermediate trails like Sugarbush and Eagle's Ridge in the afternoon. Round out the day by tackling one of the advanced trails like the black diamond Beast or the double black diamond Porky's Cliff, if you dare!
Step5
Wander over to the snow tubing park for an afternoon of fun, or for night tubing from 5 to 10 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays.

Tips & Warnings

  • Christie Mountain is open for night skiing Wednesday through Friday starting at 4:30 p.m. The ski runs are open on Saturday from 10 am. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Kids age 8 and under get a free lift ticket with the purchase of an adult lift ticket.
  • Christie Mountain does not yet offer online booking for their cabins or ski lifts.
  • When booking online, you can also search for loyalty programs that offer bonuses and free perks.
