How to Go Skiing in Mt. Bachelor, Oregon

Located just south of the city of Bend, in Eastern Oregon, Mt. Bachelor Ski Resort is one of the most popular in all of the Pacific Northwest. Featuring 11 lifts servicing numerous trails on the mountain, Mt. Bachelor is truly the gem of Oregon's High Desert.

Things You’ll Need:

  • Credit card to book your ski trip

Book Your Trip to Mt. Bachelor

Step1
Log onto the official Web site for the Mt. Bachelor Ski Resort to obtain information about skiing conditions, weather, and services offered by the resort such as ski instruction, equipment rentals and lift tickets (see Resources below). You can also book accommodations online or by phone at one of Mt. Bachelor's three preferred lodging providers, which provide luxury resort, condominium and guest home accommodations. Prices range from moderate to expensive.
Step2
Go to the Central Oregon Visitors Association Web site for centralized information on other lodging options in the area (see Resources below). Book directly with the lodging provider by phone or through the provider's Web site. You can also call the Visitors Association at 800-800-8334.
Step3
Call Mt. Bachelor at 800-829-2442 for information on season passes. You can also book rentals online if you have season rentals pass.
Step4
Fly into Redmond Airport, which is just 20 miles north of the city of Bend, Oregon. Several major airlines now offer service into Redmond Airport from several locations in the western United States.
Step5
Arrange to rent a car from the Redmond Airport in Bend. Some of the car rental companies will equip your vehicle with special snow tires for your journey up to Mt. Bachelor.

Arrive at Mt. Bachelor

Step1
Check with the ski patrol at one of Mt. Bachelor's three lodges to get the latest updates on weather and ski conditions, or to arrange ski instruction for you and your entire family.
Step2
Be safe during inclement weather and use the Mt. Bachelor Super Shuttle bus, which will take you from downtown Bend right to the slopes.
Step3
Enjoy a meal at one of the many restaurants located in the three comfortable lodges at the resort.

Spend a day with the kids at the Snowblast Tubing Park, located just adjacent to the slopes.
Step2
Rent a pair of snowshoes or a Nordic ski package, and explore the wilderness around Mt. Bachelor.
Step3
Create a memorable experience for you and your family by going for a trip through the woods on dog sleds.

  • You'll enjoy a vertical drop of 3,366 feet at this mountain that has a top elevation of 9,064 feet.
