Walhalla, North Dakota is a town few in the United States have ever heard of. This small town, however, boasts one of the best ski resorts in all of North Dakota: Frost Fire Mountain. With 10 different ski runs, a half pipe and a dedicated terrain park, Frost Fire Mountain is a winter-lover's paradise.

Search for Accommodations Near Frost Fire Mountain

Step1
Book lodgings via the North Dakota Tourism Division Web site (see Resources below) or call 1-800-HELLO-ND to speak to a travel counselor.
Step2
Choose a charming bed and breakfast in nearby Cavalier for personal service and generous rooms. For a moderate nightly price, you'll get comfortable accommodations and a generous breakfast that will give you energy on the slopes.
Step3
Book a stay at one of the rustic, moderately priced lodges found in the nearby cities of Langdon, Cavalier or Walhalla. You'll find a good selection of fully equipped homes which can sleep up to 8 people.
Step4
Stay on budget by selecting an inexpensive motel in Walhalla. You'll get clean, basic accommodations near Frost Fire Mountain. Although these motels may lack the charm of their large-scale counterparts, they are an economical way to stay near the heart of all the action.

Prepare for Your Ski Trip to Frost Fire Mountain

Step1
Plan your trip carefully, especially in the early winter season. Frost Fire Mountain is only open on Saturdays and Sundays, from 9:30 am to 4:30 pm, throughout much of the season.

Arrange to go to Frost Fire Mountain during December and January, when the park is open every day. To find out the exact date holiday hours begin, check the Frost Fire Mountain Web site (see Resources below).

Take private lessons to brush up on your skiing. One-hour lessons are available for a moderate hourly fee. Groups can arrange private lessons for a nominal price per person.

Take Highway 55 west to the ski area.

Check out the ski and ride packages offered by Frost Fire Ski Area. You can save a great deal of money by booking a ski and snowboarding package directly through the resort.
