The site of the 1980 Olympic Winter Games, Whiteface Mountain, New York offers both cross-country and downhill skiing. At 3,430 feet, the vertical drop at Whiteface is the highest in the eastern U.S. The mountain is 4,386 feet high and is covered by 76 trails. Aside from its named runs, Whiteface also offers tree skiing and out-of-bounds skiing. The resort is located on Route 86, 2 miles outside of Whiteface Village and about 10 miles from Lake Placid, New York.
