Cockaigne, New York is a great place for a fun family skip trip. Cockaigne is located in an area of heavy, lake effect snow, just 18 miles from Lake Erie in New York, so there is plenty of powder to enjoy on your trip. While the ski area is not large, this also means that you'll be skiing more frequently rather than waiting in line.

Know that Cockaigne Ski Area in New York, has partnered with a wide variety of local hotels. These include lodges, cabins, motels and hotels, and bed and breakfasts, with prices ranging from inexpensive to expensive.
Step3
Book a room at one of Cockaigne Ski Area's many bed and breakfasts, such as the Cockaigne 'Thistle Inn' or the Foxe Farmhouse Bed & Barn. The Thistle Inn is only 1/4 mile from the ski area. It features options with up to 4 bedrooms and 2 baths, along with kitchen and dining room. The Foxe Farmhouse offers single and double rooms in a country farmhouse.

Get to Know Cockaigne Ski Area

Step1
Land at the Chautaugua County/Jamestown airport in Jamestown, NY. The airport is approximately 10 miles from Cockaigne. To arrive by car from Buffalo, take I-90 S to Route 60. Take Route 60 to County Road 66. Know that Cockaigne's summit elevation is 2,022 feet. The vertical drop is 430 feet. Cockaigne has an average snowfall of 275 inches.

Know that Cockaigne has 15 trails. There are 4 lifts and snowmaking covers 70 percent of the ski area. Cockaigne also offers night skiing.
