How to Go Skiing in Angel Fire, New Mexico

Angel Fire, New Mexico is a ski resort known for its wide range of family-friendly activities and large selection of trails and freestyle parks. Located in the Northeastern part of the state, Angel Fire is nestled in the Sangre Cristo Mountains and features a steep 2,078-foot vertical drop.

Choose Lodging and Transportation

Step1
Fly to New Mexico's Albuquerque Sunport International Airport and drive 3 hours to Angel Fire.
Step2
Call the resort's reservations line at 1-800-633-7463 or 505-377-6401 to book accommodations for your ski trip. You may also book online through the resort's Web site (see Resources below).
Step3
Choose one of Angel Fire's luxury condominiums and enjoy roomy accommodations, many featuring ski-in/ski-out access. From studio condominiums for three to luxury 3-bedroom condos that comfortably sleep nine, these condos are a great option for families and groups. Prices range from moderate to expensive.
Step4
Book a room at the Angel Fire Resort Hotel and enjoy easy access to the slopes of New Mexico. Prices range from inexpensive to expensive depending on the season and how far in advance you make your reservation.

Get Familiar With Your Ski Destination

Step1
Start your trip out right by visiting Angel Fire Resort's Official Web site (see Resources below). There you can learn more about the resort as well as view snow condition reports for the mountain.
Step2
Check in with Angel Fire's Children's Ski and Snowboard Center, a 6,000-square-foot facility that offers tons of great programs and events for the kids, and see what fun activities are going on during your stay.
Step3
Enjoy some of the best skiing New Mexico has to offer. Angel Fire features 68 trails, 21 miles of cross country skiing, two freestyle parks and a giant halfpipe. Beginning and intermediate skiers are the focus at Angel Fire, but with 21 percent of the mountain rated at black diamond, there's also plenty of challenging terrain for expert skiers and snowboarders to ride.
Step4
Get some variation on your trip by trying one of the numerous alternative activities that Angel Fire has to offer. Kids are welcome and encouraged to participate in snow tubing, snowmobiling, snow blading and snow skating.
Step5
Bring your own equipment or rent all the equipment you'll need at Angel Fire's Rental Shop, which offers high-end brand-new gear from great lines like K2, Rossignol, Morrow, Salomon and Nordica.
