Put your skiing skills to the test and head to Loon Mountain in New Hampshire for 45 trails and 19.4 miles of alpine ski and snowboard terrain. Ride to the summit at 3,050 feet before picking one of the intermediate or expert runs to tackle the 2,100 foot vertical drop back to the base for the aprés ski.

Plan Your Ski Trip to Loon Mountain

Book accommodations online at the official Loon Mountain Web site, or call the reservation line at 800-914-7359 (see Resources below).

Share a ride to Loon Mountain in Lincoln, New Hampshire, just 2 hours from Boston. The mountain is located on the scenic Kancamagus Highway. Rideshare information can be found online (see Resources below).
Step3
Book your accommodations next to the slopes with views of the mountain. Budget rates are available midweek, and moderate to expensive rates are available for weekend ski-and-stay packages.
Step4
Choose a national chain with all the customary amenities. You'll find moderate rates midweek, though the price increases for weekends and holidays.

Book the Take 3, Ski or Ride Free on your trip for 3 days of lessons, rentals and lift tickets.

Enroll the kids in the children's development camp for the season. They'll get 39 days of ski or snowboard training.
Step3
Hit a jump or ride the rails in one of the 5 parks. These feature 2 pipes and more than 40 jibs.
Step4
Search for the secret park, made up of 1 to 3 jumps, ramps or hits, placed on the mountain by the staff for some surprise snowboard fun.
Step5
Get the best exercise while sightseeing in the New Hampshire woods with a day of Nordic skiing. Packages include lesson, rentals and day pass.

Tips & Warnings

  • Start planning your trip and book accommodations online. Look for bundled deals including lodging, lift tickets and entertainment.
  • Vacation periods and holidays, including President's Day, are considered peak season. Book your trip in January or March to get better rates.
  • Rent your skis and snowboards directly from the mountain. If any equipment does not fit correctly it can be changed without leaving the hill.
  • Bring your identification, passes for the year are discounted for college students.
  • Winter driving can be unpredictable. Bring extra supplies in the event of bad weather.
