Book a Ski Trip to Mt. Holly

  1. Step 1

Contact the Flint Area Convention and Visitors Bureau for a listing of accommodations by calling (800) 253-5468. You may also book lodging through its Web site (see Resources below). For the most part, expect to find budget chain hotels in Flint.

  2. Step 2

Expect to stay at least 10 miles outside of the Mt. Holly ski area unless you book a room in one of the very limited number of Holly bed and breakfasts or hotels. The few accommodations in Holly are reasonably priced, and some are located in historic, Victorian-style buildings.

  3. Step 3

Use a travel agent to find group or discounted rates for Michigan lodging. Many motels offer special rates for travel club members.

  4. Plan Your Ski Trip to Mt. Holly

  5. Step 1

Fly into the Oakland County International Airport in Pontiac. Rent a car and enjoy driving from your lodging to the resort.

  6. Step 2

Drive to Mt. Holly. The resort is located on S. Dixie Highway in Holly, just 55 miles north of Detroit. Winter driving can be tricky in Michigan, but the roads near Mt. Holly are kept well plowed.

  7. Step 3

Experience the 350-foot vertical drop and enjoy the convenience of the 13 lifts. There are 100 skiable acres to explore. The annual snowfall of 42 inches is supplemented with the resort's snowmaking equipment.

  8. Step 4

Enjoy the night skiing. The more adventuresome are on the slopes after the sun goes down.

  9. Step 5

Increase your skill level with a class in skiing or snowboarding. A helpful tip or two will help you enjoy the winter sports activities to the fullest. Beginners will especially benefit from expert instruction on downhill skiing techniques and how to use the equipment.

  10. Step 6

Contact the resort for information on season passes and lift tickets. Families can ask about the Grant's Trail beginner chairlift.

  11. Step 7

Contact the resort for information on nearby snowmobile trails. Snowmobiling is one of Michigan's favorite winter sports.

  12. Step 8

Read the up-to-date ski report when you choose 'Snow Report' from the drop-down menu on the ski area's Web site (see Resources below).

  13. Step 9

Bring your own skiis and snowboards or rent your equipment at the resort. Call ahead for equipment availability.
