Contact the West Michigan Tourist Association for a listing of local accommodations by calling 1-800-442-2084 or visiting its Web site (see Resources below). You may also conveniently email the travel desk via the Web site. The staff will help you choose a motel or bed and breakfast near Missaukee Mountain.

Expect the number of area hotels to be limited. Choose from budget bed and breakfasts or head slightly out of town for familiar chain hotels and motels.

Use a travel agent to locate accommodations in or near Lake City, Michigan. Group rates and special rates can sometimes be found. Many motels offer discounted rates for travel club members.

Access Missaukee Mountain for free! Two tow ropes are in operation and tickets are not required. Bring your own skis, snow boards and tubes.

Fly into the Lake City area to the Houghton Lake/Roscommon County Airport. Rent a car at the airport, since taxis are almost nonexistent in this area.

Drive to Missaukee Mountain, Michigan. Road conditions can be tough to navigate in the winter. Missaukee Mountain is located 3 1/2 miles north of Lake City on M-66.

Explore the 15 acres of skiable area, with a 220-foot vertical drop. With over 90 inches of annual snowfall, the slopes at Missaukee Mountain are almost always ready to provide downhill excitement. Night skiing is available.

Plan to get off the beaten path on a cross-country ski trail. Missaukee Mountain offers cross-country skiing in addition to its exciting downhill skiing.

Explore other winter sports. Bring a snowboard or take advantage of the Lake City area's many snowmobile trails for additional winter adventures.

Be aware that Missaukee Mountain is only open on the weekends. It is operated by a local ski club and has limited amenities. Call 1-231-839-7575 for more information.
