Perched on 60 ski-able areas, the Blue Hills ski area is a small-size ski destination in Massachusetts. It offers eight trails, five lifts, a vertical drop of 496 feet and a top elevation of 637 feet.

Book Lodging for Your Ski Trip to Blue Hills

Step1
Call the Greater Boston Convention & Visitors Bureau at (888) SEE BOSTON to reserve your accommodations near Blue Hills. You can also book lodging through their Web site (see Resources below).
Step2
Enjoy big-city comfort by booking a hotel in Boston. The Blue Hills ski area is a mere 10 minutes away by car. Like any big city, Boston has rooms ranging in price from budget to expensive. Unlike other big American cities, however, it's brimming with history, so consider staying in a landmark inn.
Step3
Be moments away from the slopes by opting to stay in a hotel in one of the communities immediately surrounding the Blue Hills ski area. Check out hotels in Dedham, Randolph and Braintree, which are fewer than five miles from the Blue Hills ski area.

Travel to to Blue Hills

Step1
Start your trip with a flight into Boston's Logan Airport. The airport services domestic flights, as well as those from Canada, Latin America and Europe.
Step2
Rent a car at the airport, and pick up I-93 South. Take the freeway all the way to exit 2B and continue on Washington Street. Continue on this road for one mile to arrive at Blue Hills.

Enjoy Your Massachusetts Ski Trip

Step1
Take advantage of the specials offered by the Blue Hills ski area. Lift tickets are very inexpensive for those skiing Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and Sundays from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Step2
Purchase an inexpensive, 8-hour weekday ticket. The price drops for those age 6 to 12.
Step3
Shred the weekend away by purchasing a weekend ticket. There are reasonable 4-hour and 8-hour passes available.
Step4
Call Blue Hills at (781) 828-5070 to purchase a season pass. The office is open Monday through Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Step5
Read a current ski report before hitting the slopes. You'll find it by clicking on the "Snow Report" link of the Blue Hills Web site (see Resources below).

Tips & Warnings

  • If you don't already own the necessary gear, you'll likely get the best rates renting ski equipment in your hometown. Should you need them, though, skis, boots, poles and snowboards are available at Blue Hills.
  • Book your Massachusetts lodging and ski vacation online for the ultimate in convenience.
  • To avoid injury on the slopes, make sure to stretch and warm up before beginning your day of skiing.
