How to Go Skiing in Titcomb Mountain, Maine

Titcomb Mountain is a family-oriented, reasonably priced ski area near West Farmington, Maine. Fifteen trails offer Alpine skiing, a terrain trail challenges snowboarders, and there are Nordic trails for cross country skiing. Night skiing makes the fun last past sundown and snow-making keeps the trails open when Mother Nature doesn't cooperate.

    Plan Your Ski Trip to Titcomb Mountain

  1. Step 1

    Book your room reservations through the Maine Tourism Association. You can call them at (207) 623-0363, or book your ski trip accommodations online at their Web site (see Resources below).

  2. Step 2

    Make reservations at a local West Farmington bed and breakfast. Many of these are located on old farms and have moderately priced accommodations.

  3. Step 3

    Book budget accommodations for your ski trip at one of the many local motels near Titcomb Mountain. Some of these rustic motor lodges are family-owned and operated.

  4. Step 4

    Plan to drive. Titcomb Mountain is near the juncture of Route 2 and Route 27 in southwestern Maine, just 25 minutes from Skowhegan and 45 minutes from Augusta. If you're on Route 95 going either north or south, take 27 North.

  5. Step 5

    Become a member. Members get discounts for themselves, friends and family. One free lesson, if you're a complete beginner, is included with membership.

  6. Step 6

    Call the Titcomb Mountain help line at (207) 778-9031 with any questions. You cannot book tickets at this number.

  8. Step 1

    Don't feel nervous. Titcomb Mountain is a friendly, encouraging place for beginners and kids. There are programs for children after school and on weekends.

  9. Step 2

    Learn to race. When you are ready for some real action, the race programs will help you develop your skills.

  10. Step 3

    Be a night owl. Night skiing is open several evenings a week. See the schedule on the Titcomb Mountain Web site (see Resources below).

  11. Step 4

    Glide through the woods on the Nordic cross-country trails. Experience the peace of a snow-covered forest and get the physical benefit of this excellent exercise.

  12. Step 5

    Plan your skiing for school break in February. A number of activities are held at that time, including bonfires, an obstacle course, snow sculptures and a torchlight parade.
