The key word for Saddleback is "big." Everything there is big. It covers more than 8,000 acres. It has 4,120 feet of ski runs. The longest vertical drop is 2000 feet. It gets 200 inches of snow every year. There are five lifts with more to come, and 60 trails offer every possible skiing experience. It is near the town of Rangeley, deep in the wilderness of western Maine.

Plan Your Ski Trip to Saddleback

Step1
Use the Maine Tourism Association Web site to book your accommodations online (see Resources below). You can also call them at (207) 623-0363.
Step2
Rent a moderately expensive ski in and ski out condo right on the slopes of Saddleback. Two-level units sleep six to eight, while the three-level units sleep up to ten people.
Step3
Arrange for a room at one of the local bed and breakfasts. Many of these moderately priced accommodations feature great views and big whirlpool Jacuzzi tubs, where you can soak your tired bones after a long day of skiing.
Step4
Budget your money and book a reservation at one of the area motor lodges. These quaint mountain lodges reflect the rustic setting of Saddleback.
Step5
Land at either Portland International Jetport or Bangor International Airport. Rent a car to get to Saddleback.
Step6
Drive about 125 miles from either Portland or Bangor along I-95 to reach Saddleback.

Enjoy Your Ski Trip to Saddleback

Step1
Take in the view from the top of one of the highest skiing mountains in Maine. At 4,120 feet, experience true Alpine-style skiing.
Step2
Slide gently on the easy trails or plunge with reckless abandon down the double black diamond trails. With 60 trails to choose from, there is something for everyone.
Step3
Improve your skills at the Tuesday Tune-up. Or book any level of ski, snowboard or telemark lessons. PSIA certified instructors teach the youngest beginner to the serious racer.
Step4
Buy or rent anything you need at the ski shop. They also do repairs, and they have Saddleback memorabilia.
