Plan Your Ski Trip to New Hermon Mountain

  1. Step 1

Call the Maine Tourism Association at (207) 623-0363 to book accommodations for your ski trip to New Hermon Mountain. Or you can use the online reservation system on their Web site (see Resources below).

  2. Step 2

Be frugal and book a room at one of the local motels located in Bangor, Maine. These inexpensive accommodations allow you to take a ski trip to New Hermon Mountain on a budget while providing standard amenities, like free continental breakfast and access to an indoor or outdoor pool.

  3. Step 3

Pay a little more for moderately priced or expensive accommodations at an area hotel. Chain hotels and locally-owned and operated hotels throughout Bangor, Maine offer accommodations that feature in-room fireplaces, fitness centers and on-site dining.

  4. Step 4

Fly into Bangor International Airport. Take I-95 to Route 69. New Hermon Mountain is just minutes from the airport. You could be skiing before the airline finds your luggage.

  5. Step 5

Load up your car in Bangor, Maine and drive just a little south on I-95. Get off at exit 174. A right onto Route 69 takes you to Hinckley Hill Road, where you turn right. Go a mile on Hinckley Hill, then take a left onto Newburg road and go one more mile.

  6. Step 6

Call the New Hermon Mountain information line with any questions at (207) 848-5192. You can't, however, book a lift ticket on this line; you pay when you get there.

Go straight or twist and turn. Three trails go straight as an arrow down the hill. Others are New England style runs with dips, turns and pitches.

  9. Step 2

Tell Mother Nature you don't need her. New Hermon Mountain has snow making capabilities, so you'll be skiing even if no real snow has fallen.

  10. Step 3

Go from novice to pro in four weeks. The learn to ski program has lessons for beginners and everyone else. Learn in a group or one-on-one with an instructor.

  11. Step 4

Grab some air on the half pipe. A terrain park allows snowboarders to practice all their best moves. Snowboard lessons are also available.
