For over 40 years, Schweitzer Mountain Resort has had plenty to offer the serious and novice skier and snowboarder. In addition to the exhilarating 2,400 foot vertical drop, this ski area also provides a heady summit elevation of 6,400 feet!

Book Accommodations on Schweitzer Mountain

Step1
Book accommodations at the Schweitzer Mountain Resort through their official Web site (see Resources below). You can also make reservations by calling the resort directly at (800) 831-8810.
Step2
Book room reservations in the city of Sandpoint, Idaho, a quaint community only 11 miles away from Schweitzer Mountain. You can pick from a wide variety of accommodation options ranging from hotel chains to local bed and breakfasts.
Step3
Stay in one of the luxurious lodgings in the Village at Schweitzer to be within walking distance of the shops and restaurants. Choose between the European-inspired Selkirk Lodge, the multi-storied condos of the White Pine Lodge or other mountain condos available for small or large groups. On-site lodging is moderately expensive.

Organize Transportation for a Ski Trip to Schweitzer Mountain

Step1
Look up at the towering Selkirk Mountains. Survey the beautiful freshwater Lake Pend Oreille. Schweitzer is only 45 miles from the Canadian border.
Step2
Book a flight into Spokane International Airport, located about 90 miles from Schweitzer Mountain. You will not have a hard time finding a flight, as the Spokane airport services numerous carriers.

Know Your Destination

Step1
Ascend to the top of the Schweitzer Mountain and feast your eyes on three different mountain ranges: Cabinet, Bitterfoot and Selkirk. In addition you will be able to see into three other states and Canada.
Step2
Experience the exhilaration and uniqueness of riding the only six-person high-speed lift in Idaho, dubbed Stella. This astonishingly large and quite affordable lift enables the resort to reach an uphill capacity of 9,267 people an hour.
Step3
Ski and snowboard enthusiasts will have a blast exploring the 82 different trails encompassing an impressive 2,900 acres. Adding to the fun is the open bowl skiing and the longest run on the mountain, 1.7 miles, down the Little Blue Ridge Run.
Step4
At Schweitzer Mountain, Idaho, you're sure to have plenty of area to ski or board on regardless of your skill level. Twenty percent of the trails serve beginners while intermediate skiers enjoy 40 percent. Thirty-five percent of the slopes are geared toward advanced skiers and a choice five percent are reserved for experts.

on 10/2/2007 I live in Spokane, and I must say that Schweitzer is awesome. I moved out here after living in Seattle for most of my life (where your primary choices for skiing are Stevens and Snoqualmie... both always crowded, neither with a resort feel with tons of acreage). Schweitzer never feels crowded in comparison, and you can often ski right up the lift without waiting in line.
