How to Go Skiing in Ski Sundown, Connecticut

Ski Sundown is a large ski resort seated in scenic New Hartford, Connecticut. The resort is open 100 days out of the year and welcomes snowboarders. Expect a 625-foot vertical drop and a top elevation of 1,075 feet as well as a range of slope types and expertise levels.

Choose Accommodations to Book for Ski Sundown

Step1
Check the Farmington Valley Visitors' Association Web site (see Resources below) to book accommodations for your ski trip. You can also call them at (860) 635-5600.
Step2
Reserve a room at the range of chalet-style motels conveniently located within a mile of Ski Sundown and three miles from the mall. Many of these very affordable motels are open year-round.
Step3
Stay in a cozy bed and breakfast within a short drive of Ski Sundown. You can book a room in a bed and breakfast in nearby cities, including Farmington, Avon, Simsbury and Canton.

Organize Transportation for a Ski Trip to Ski Sundown

Step1
Hop in your car and head for Ski Sundown, located at 126 Ratlum Road, New Hartford, CT. The resort is located just off of Route 219 and to the North of Route 44.
Step2
Driving to Ski Sundown from within Connecticut is a cinch and doesn't take that long. From Danbury and New Haven the drive is only one hour. Bridgeport is a little over 1 hour and Stamford and Whitestone are around 1.5 hours.

Know Your Destination

Step1
This resort has been open to snowboarders since 1984. If you are a novice or brand-new snowboarder, you can purchase a ticket for a snowboard clinic.
Step2
Glide down one or more of the 15 available trails. Beginners need not worry; half of the trails are designated for beginners while the remainder are split between intermediate and advanced.
Step3
Book your ski trip to Ski Sundown, Connecticut and you will be able to participate in different ski and snowboard clinics that range in price from affordable to pricey. In addition, you can purchase a program that gives you eight ski or snowboard rentals as long as you register for the program by the beginning of January.
Step4
Enroll your children of four years and older into the daily 1.5-hour group lessons. These lessons are put on at 10:00 a.m., 12:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m.
