How to Go Skiing in Mt. Southington, Connecticut

Situated in the southwestern region of Connecticut in the city of Plantsville, Mt. Southington is a diverse ski area with a good amount of ski trails. A 425-foot vertical drop is set on 50 acres of ski-able terrain at a peak elevation of 525 feet above sea level.

Book Accommodations Near Mt. Southington

Step1
Check the Northwest Connecticut Convention & Visitors Bureau Web site (see Resources below) to book accommodations for your ski trip. You can also call them at (860) 567-4506.
Step2
Book rooms at a lodge-themed inn or hotel in Southington and you will be looking at surprisingly affordable to moderately priced rooms, depending on how fancy the place you pick is.
Step3
Pick from many well-known and local hotels and inns in and around the Mt. Southington, Connecticut ski area. You can book quality accommodations in Milldale, Wolcott, Southington, Waterbury and Bristol, all within 10 miles of the ski area.

Organize Transportation for a Ski Trip to Mt. Southington

Step1
Find your way to Mt. Southington, Connecticut, located at 396 Mount Vernon Road just off I-84 via Exit 30. If your party is coming from different directions, know that to the west of Mt. Southington is Route 8 and to the east is I-91.
Step2
Mt. Southington is 20 minutes from Hartford, just over an hour from Bridgeport and two hours from New York City. The route from New York takes you along the Hutchinson River Parkway East, then to Route I-684 North and finally to I-84 East, which will lead you to Exit 30.

Know Your Destination

Step1
Ski season at Mt. Southington lasts from December to March. Plan your days around the opening of the trail runs. On the weekends, that's from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and during the week, it's from 10:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Step2
Mt. Southington offers 14 trails with an equal percentage of beginner, intermediate and advanced runs. There are a total of eight lifts running with a base elevation of 100 feet.
Step3
Purchase lift tickets in either 4-hour or 8-hour increments that range in price from cheap to moderate, depending on the time and the purchaser's age. Night tickets are cheaper than day tickets and there are less expensive tickets available for certain time slots, including sunset on a non-holiday weekday.
