Eldora, Colorado is a mountain resort community that is perfect for a kid-friendly ski trip. It's a smaller mountain than some of the other resorts in the area, so it tends to attract locals rather than hordes of thrill seekers from across the globe. It has plenty of beginner and intermediate slopes, as well as enough difficult runs to keep advanced skiers happy. A trip to Eldora is a great way to introduce kids to skiing and satisfy the veterans at the same time.

Step1
Book accommodations by visiting Eldora's Web site (see Resources below). You can also reach them by phone at (303) 440-8700.
Step2
Consider accommodations in Nederland, Colorado which is just a 10 minute trip from the base of the mountain, or make the 30 minute drive on to Boulder for a hotel in the middle of this rustic, bustling city.
Step3
Both Boulder and Nederland offer a plethora of accommodations with prices ranging from moderate to expensive, but Boulder is a major city and has more accommodations and special winter season pricing.
Step4

Get to Know Eldora Mountain

Step1
Visit the Eldora Web site (see Resources below) to find the snow report, forecast and even information on wind advisories and trail grooming.

Demo a new pair of skis or a board to save yourself the hassle of lugging equipment and to experience the latest innovations in ski and board technology.
Step3
Purchase only as many lift tickets as you need. There are half-day tickets and tickets that restrict access to beginner level lifts, but if you're a novice, that may be enough for you.
Step4
Save a bundle at Eldora; it is less expensive than many of the other major mountain resorts in Colorado.

Tips & Warnings

  • Book travel, tickets, equipment rentals and lodging online to find the best prices and options for your trip.
  • Look for traffic updates if you're driving to Eldora. I-70 is notoriously jammed with traffic.
