Crested Butte is one of the most beloved resorts in Colorado. With charming historic buildings from the 1880s, it has the feel of an alpine village. The mountain towers over the landscape, signaling to everyone that fresh powder and exciting runs await. Plan a trip to this fantastic ski desination.

    Book Lodging at Crested Butte

  1. Step 1

    Book accommodations through Crested Butte's Web site (see Resources below). You may also call (800) 810-SNOW.

  2. Step 2

    Determine your budget. Consider moderately priced accommodations along the shuttle route or splurge on a unit from which you can ski out the door. Also, consider staying further down the mountain in the Gunnison to save some money.

  3. Prepare for the Slopes at Crested Butte

  4. Step 1

    Crested Butte's elevation is 12,162 feet and it has 121 trails.

  5. Step 2

    Get the lingo down. Crested Butte is best known for its extreme skiing and its groomed packed powder-what the locals call "corduroy."

  6. Step 3

    Plan to keep the kids occupied with organized activities. Every Wednesday through Saturday, there's tubing or night skiing for kids.
