How to Go Skiing in Breckenridge, Colorado

Breckenridge, Colorado, is a popular ski resort with superb shops and a variety of restaurants and brew pubs. Breckenridge is known for steep ski runs, half pipes and expansive bowls. Off the slopes, visitors enjoy exploring Main Street, with its gingerbread-latticed homes and fantastic shopping.

Book Lodging at Breckenridge

Step1
Book your Breckenridge ski trip at Breckenridge Resort's Online Lodging Planner (see Resources below). You may also call (888) 284-9477.
Step2
Stay at the Beaver Run Resort. It is a 4-star resort at the base of the Beaver Run lift and has moderately priced and expensive accommodations.
Step3
Check out the moderately priced River Mountain Lodge. It's located just across from Four O'Clock Road and overlooks the historic district and the Blue River.

Prepare for the Slopes at Breckenridge

Step1
Get an updated report on conditions by logging on to Breckenridge's Web site and clicking on "The Mountain" (see Resources below).
Step2
Take a lesson. Breckenridge Ski School offers fun and affordable packages for adults and children.
Step3
Breckenridge's tallest peak is a whopping 12,998 feet and that there are 152 ski trails, 25 acres of terrain parks and 772 acres of bowl skiing.

Tips & Warnings

  • Get a free ride! Breckenridge is well-served by an in-town trolley and also has several stops for Summit Stage, the free shuttle that will take you to the other resorts in Summit County.
  • Observe the smoking laws. As of 2004, all of Breckenridge's bars and restaurants have been designated as smoke-free.
