Step3

Pack for Your Ski Trip to Stover Mountain

Step1
Bring your own ski or board equipment for your trip to Stover Mountain. There is no equipment rental store on-site, and the majority of the mountain's patronage comes from area residents.
Step2
Dress warmly and in layers when you ski on Stover Mountain. There is a historic building used as a “warming hut” on the mountain, but not a formal lodge or resort-style facility to visit to get warm.
Step3
Consider bringing a picnic or snacks when you ski on Stover Mountain. If you plan to make a day of it on the mountain, you may find the snack shack selection limited.

Plan Your Ski Trip to Stover Mountain

Step1
Find this small community ski/board park located in the Chester-Lake Almanor area of California. It is only open on weekends and some holidays during the ski season, and the lift operates from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Step2
Snowboard or extreme ski in the small terrain park, which features one small jump and one large jump, with two rails, one slide tube and one box.
Step3
Ski down eight different runs, for levels beginner through expert. These runs are typically groomed snow, but you may also find areas of powder on some days. If you feel like testing your limits, there is also a 10-foot rock from which to jump in powder and practice your “hot dog” moves.
Step4
Enjoy hot beverages and light snacks at the refreshment booth operated at Stover Mountain, California. You will find it open during lift-operating hours.
Step5
Drive right up to Stover Mountain. The park is located on the Lassen National Forest, about 3.5 miles from the junction of Highway 89 and Highway 36.
Step6
Call Stover Mountain at (530) 258-3987 for a current ski report.
