Choose Your Lodging

Step1
Find and book accommodations through the North Lake Tahoe Resort Association by calling (888) 434-1262 or taking advantage of its Web site (see Resources below). Simply hover over “Vacation Planning” and click on the “Lodging” link that appears. Choose “Donner Summit/Soda Springs” or “Truckee” from the drop-down menu.
Step2
Find other accommodations in nearby Tahoe City. Choose from spacious and moderately priced rental condos and expensive luxury resorts with views of the lake.
Step3
Choose from more than 20 hotels and other types of lodging when you book a trip to Soda Springs. Most of the accommodations are located in nearby Truckee and can range from small bed-and-breakfasts to larger, lodge-style resorts. Look for cozy details, like in-room fireplaces or cat-iron stoves.

Arrange Transportation to Soda Springs

Step1
Find Soda Springs within a short drive from Sacramento, California (about 80 miles away), as well as Reno, Nevada (less than 50 miles away). You can also reach Soda Springs from San Francisco, since it is less than 170 miles from the Bay Area of California.
Step2
Book a seat on the bus or train to Truckee, California, where you can then rent a car. Soda Springs is a short distance from Truckee and can be reached off of I-80.

Plan Your Ski Trip to Soda Springs

Step1
Find majestic views from Soda Spring's ridge, where you can see Lake Van Norden and the backbone of the Northern Sierra. At an elevation of over 7,300 feet, Soda Springs offers good natural snow coverage, with only a small percentage man made each season.
Step2
Enjoy skiing and snowboarding trails, as well as snow tubing, sledding and snowshoe activities at Soda Springs.
Step3
Bring the kids along to enjoy Planet Snow Kids when you book a trip to Soda Springs. This terrain park offers a tube carousel and a moving carpet, as well as many activities geared to ages 8 and under. The resort also offers kid-sized snowmobile rentals for ages 6 to 12.
Step4
Take one of seven lifts to the slopes or use the two tubing tows to take a ride through the park's groomed inner-tube trails. The majority of ski trails are appropriate for intermediate level skiers, with about eight black diamond trails for more experienced skiers and snowboarders.
Step5
Ride up on the first lift of the morning starting at 9 a.m. everyday. The lifts close at 4 p.m., and the tube tow lifts begin operation at 10 a.m. with the same closing time.
Step6
Rent inexpensive ski equipment for adults at the resort's rental facility, located on the lower level of the resort lodge in Soda Springs.
Step7
Locate a ski report on the main page of the Soda Springs Winter Resort Web site (see Resources below). Reading the report will give you a better idea of how warmly you should dress.
