Things You'll Need:
- Computer with Internet access
- Credit card to book your ski trip
-
Step 1
Book your accommodations online at the Tucson Convention and Visitors Bureau Web site (see Resources below). You can also reach them by phone at (888) 2-TUCSON.
-
Step 2
Consider staying in Tucson, where there are many types of overnight accommodations available, from luxury hotels to charming bed-and-breakfast inns. You can even stay at an inexpensive motor lodge if you're on a budget.
-
Step 3
Choose accommodations in the small town of Summerhaven, located 8,000 feet up Mt. Lemmon, for the most convenient way to ski in the area.
-
Step 4
Book your air travel for an arrival into Tucson International Airport, and rent a car for the half-hour drive up the Catalina Highway toward Mt. Lemmon.
-
Step 5
Review Mt. Lemmon weather conditions and an online ski report before you go (see Resources below).
-
Step 1
Rent a snowboard or a Nordic skiing package for a variation on your usual ski activities.
-
Step 2
Consider a half-day pass if you want to combine skiing with an afternoon of shopping in Summerhaven.
-
Step 3
Enroll in one of the ski schools if you're a bit rusty, or if this is your first time on the slopes. The classes at Mt. Lemmon are especially kid-friendly.
-
Step 4
Stop and take a look around at the summit, where you can see all of Tucson and the San Pedro Valley, and the nearby Reef of Rocks. The chair lifts at Mt. Lemmon operate all year long to take advantage of the incredible view.
