J-Air is a subsidiary of Japan Airlines (JAL) and is currently based in the Nagoya Airport. It is the only commercial airline to fly out of this airport, from which it operates 9 aircraft and travels to 14 other airports.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy

Things You’ll Need:

Book Your Tickets on J-Air

Step1
Book your J-Air tickets by calling JAL from your landline at 011 (+81) 0120 25 5971 or from your cell phone at 011 (+81) 0570 025 071. You can also book your J-Air tickets through the JAL Web site (see Resources below).
Step2
Select your departure city and your destination. Choose your dates, and check for flight and seat availability.
Step3
Pay for your flight with a credit card, print out your information and be sure to keep it handy. Have JAL send your tickets either to you via mail service or through electronic means.

Explore Possible Destination Flights

Step1
Fly into the Narita International Airport from anywhere (domestic or international) and then fly J-Air to Nagoya. This is the only flight from Narita that J-Air currently offers.
Step2
Fly into Osaka International Airport on JAL and then jump on a J-Air flight to Fukushima, Hanamaki, Sapporo-Chitose or Yamagata. Note that you cannot take a direct flight from here to Nagoya.

Choose a Departure City on J-Air

Step1
Access 2 international airports for any further travel plans you may have. J-Air can fly you to the Narita (near Tokyo) and the Osaka International Airports.
Step2
Pick 1 of 3 daily flights from New Kitakyu-shu Airport to Nagoya.
Step3
Fly from Nagoya (the J-Air hub) to the cities of Akita, Kochi, Matsuyama, Obihiro, Nagasaki, Tokyo-Narita, Niigata and Yamagata.

Know J-Air Travel Policies

Step1
Be aware that smaller planes have stricter baggage policies. Check your luggage sizes and be aware of any restrictions that may apply to larger pieces of luggage, such as skis, golf bags or musical instruments.
Step2
Take one piece of carry-on luggage. It must weigh less than 22 lbs (10 kg).
Step3
Review the security regulation information before you go to the airport. This information changes frequently.

Tips & Warnings

  • Book travel over the Internet to make reservations any time, day or night.
