Tips & Warnings
Book your reservations online from home before you depart for China. While Chinese regulations don't allow tickets to be mailed outside the country, they will be sent to you at your hotel in Yunming when you arrive.
Note that while you will see the Chinese move freely about the train in search of better seats, foreign visitors are advised to stay in the seats they are assigned. Getting caught in a seat that is not assigned to you can land you in hot water with the agents on board the train.
Travel for foreigners within China can be tedious. Be patient and understanding and realize that you are a guest in another country where things operate differently.
