Book your train travel to Moscow--the most direct train route in and out of Estonia.

Organize your trip to connect with Russian trains heading from Moscow to Tallinn, the capital city of Estonia.

Book a sleeper car or couchette (berth) for a more comfortable trip to Moscow before you transfer to your Estonia-bound train.

Consider a Flexi Pass for travel within several different countries in Europe, including Germany and Russia, then buy tickets from Russia to Estonia.

Tips & Warnings

  • Book online to get special Web-only deals.
  • You can also book your train trip with a travel agent who can also validate your Eurail Rail Pass before you travel.
  • Estonia caters to predominantly Russian, Finnish and Scandinavian travelers who have targeted Estonia as a new, inexpensive resort destination. Check travel Web sites in those countries for affordable spa packages.
  • Estonia does not accept euros anywhere. Arrive with Estonian Kroons to access local hotels, restaurants and alternate travel services.
  • Know that Estonia's rail system is extremely limited. The two local train lines (Tallinn-Keila-Paldiski/Riisipere) have daily service, but do not go to all areas.
  • All phone numbers include the United States international prefix "011." When calling internationally outside the United States, substitute that "011" with "00."
  • All country codes are within parentheses and begin with a "+" sign.
  • The winter months from March to November are very cold. Daylight hours are short, so bring your warmest clothes for any outdoor expeditions.
