Prepare for Your Hotel Stay
Step1
Check visa and entry requirements. Citizens of certain countries can visit the country without a visa if their stay will be up to three months. Citizens of countries who don't fall into this category will need to apply for a visa before they visit.
Step2
Travel with a valid passport, although citizens of a few countries can actually enter Malta with a passport that expired within the last year to five years.
Step3
Arrive by car, bus or boat. You can take a Maltese-style gondola to Valletta from Vittoriosa.
Step4
Take a tour of the fortress city. See the bastions and forts built by the Knights of St. John.
Step5
Tour Valletta on foot, by bus or on horse cart. The horse carts are called Karozzin.
Know Your Destination
Step1
Exchange your dollars for Maltese Lira. Banks are open every day except Sunday. You can also use the Exchange Bureaux at the airport or your credit cards.
Step2
Learn a few phrases of Maltese, it is the official language. English and Italian are also widely spoken.
Step3
Visit St. John's Cathedral, a dedication to the Knights of St. John. The walls and ceiling are painted with scenes from events in the life of St. John. The best time to visit is during summer or at Christmas.
