Find Comfortable Accommodations

Step1
Book accommodations via the Marshall Islands Visitors Authority. Call 011 (+692) 625-6482 or visit the Web site listed in the Resources section below.
Step2
Stay in total privacy at one of the remote bungalows accessible only by boat. These types of accommodations can range anywhere from inexpensive to very expensive depending upon the level of luxury and seclusion.
Step3
Try one of the downtown hostels for accommodations specifically for backpackers on a budget. Rooms are generally inexpensive.
Step4
Splurge on beachfront resort accommodations, fully equipped with fitness centers, swimming pools and water sports equipment for moderate prices.

Travel to the Marshall Islands

Step1
Fly to the Majuro International Airport. Although there are 15 different airports throughout the islands, Majuro is the capital of Marshall Islands and the largest city.
Step2
Hop in a taxi for an inexpensive way to travel around. The taxis also participate in a ride share program that allows you to stop taxis that already have passengers in them.
Step3
Purchase a single ride ticket for a nominal fee to take the shuttle bus, which transports visitors throughout the island.

Know Your Destination

Step1
Travel to the islands January through March for the best weather, although temperatures throughout the year only vary between 77 and 86 degrees F.
Step2
Spend American dollars and use the English language freely (the official language), as both are accepted widely throughout the Islands.
Step3
Purchase a three-month travel visa for a nominal fee upon arrival. Visas are not required to travel within the Marshall Islands.

Visit Local Attractions

Step1
Take full advantage of the abundance of water sports in the area such as sport fishing, snorkeling and scuba diving. The area around the island has many coral reefs and ship wrecks that are best explored by renting snorkel or scuba gear.
Step2
Stop in at the Alele Museum which showcases the history and traditions of the Marshall Islands including arts, canoes and tools from its original inhabitants.
Step3
Take a look at the 1718 Typhoon Monument that pays tribute to all the victims of the destructive typhoon of that year.

  • If traveling between May through November, be aware that it is the typhoon season.
