Margaritas are practically the national drink of Mexico, with this lime-flavored drink being consumed on beaches at restaurants and in homes throughout the nation. Some say the drink was created as a wedding present to a woman named Margarita. It has been said that the nonalcoholic version was introduced when a bartender made the drink for a showgirl that was allergic to tequila. If you also want to nix the tequila, here is how to make a non-alcoholic margarita.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • 1 tsp. coarse salt
  • 3 oz. sweet and sour mix
  • Lime wedge
  • Ice
  • 2 oz. lemon-lime soda

Step1
Pour the coarse salt onto a plate or saucer.
Step2
Moisten the rim of a margarita glass with the lime wedge. Dip the glass into the salt until it coats the rim.
Step3
Fill a margarita glass with ice and pour in the lemon-lime soda, sweet and sour mix and lime juice.
Step4
Garnish with the lime.

Tips & Warnings

  • To make a blended margarita, simply put all ingredients into a blender with two cups of ice, blend until smooth and pour into the glass.
  • Bar supply stores sell margarita rimmers which have a sponge and receptacle to hold salt. These can be handy when needing to make margaritas in bulk.
