This popular drink was first created in southern Florida in the mid-1980s as a reaction to the martini craze that swept the United States. It is now a fixture at martini bars and nightclubs throughout the nation. Read on to learn how to make a Cosmopolitan.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • 1 1/4 oz. citrus vodka
  • 1/4 oz. lime juice
  • 1/4 oz. orange liqueur
  • 1/4 cup cranberry juice
  • 1 orange slice
  • 1 Maraschino cherry
  • 1/4 oz. orange liqueur
  • 1/4 oz. lime juice
  • 1 orange slice
  • 1 Maraschino cherry
  • Martini shaker
  • 1/4 cup cranberry juice
  • 1 1/4 oz. citrus vodka
  • Martini glass
Step1
Fill a martini shaker halfway with ice.
Step2
Pour in all ingredients.
Step3
Shake the martini shaker until the outside becomes frosted with condensation.
Step4
Strain into a chilled martini glass.
Step5
Garnish with an orange slice and cherry.

Tips & Warnings

  • Adjust the amount of cranberry juice to make the drink more or less potent.
  • Do not drink and drive.
