Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Things You’ll Need:
-
A love for Angels baseball
-
A heart that can take hits after losses (there may be a few this year)
-
A TV, radio, or newspaper to follow the Halos
Step1
(Not necessary) Go to a spring training game! There's no better thing than to start the season early, why not go watch a few youngsters go at it in Arizona. By the way, I'm going to see them play the Seattle Mariners in Peoria.
Step2
Know the roster. If you know the roster and depth chart well before the season, you'll know which first baseman Mike Scioscia should play when Casey Kotchman starts to stink it up.
Step3
Vigilantly keep backing the effort to get the team renamed as the Anaheim Angels. This "Los Angeles" stuff is really getting on my nerves. Go figure: playoff appearances as Anaheim Angels: 3. Playoff appearances as Los Angeles Angels: 1 out of 6. Come on Arte, give the city that you play in and represent some respect!
Step4
Don't cry when only two Angel players (Francisco Rodriguez and Vladimir Guerrero) make the All-Star Game in 'Frisco. The Halos might play good as a team, but individually they are not strong.
Step5
Come to the stadium down the stretch run to support the team. They're going to need it, especially against the Texas Rangers, who I think will win the west.
Step6
Pray for a wild card berth. The Halos are not better than Texas and will be neck and neck with Oakland. Hope that we can experience another Red October.
Step7
Don't be afraid to let your emotions show if the Angels miss the playoffs or are knocked out of them. But before you cry, put red food dye in your eyes so you can sob Angel red, just as Tommy Lasorda bled Dodger blue.
