Popularized by the British Navy during their trips to Bermuda, the Dark and Stormy is a stiff drink that is worthy of being the opening line of a novel. "It was a dark and stormy night," wrote Edward George Bulwer-Lytton in his 19th century novel, "Paul Clifford." And if you too want to write the great American novel or sail the high seas with the British, here is how to make a Dark and Stormy.

Instructions

Things You’ll Need:

  • 2 oz. dark rum
  • 1 bottle of ginger beer
  • Lime wedge
  • Ice
  • 2 oz. dark rum
  • Lime wedge
  • Ice
  • 1 bottle of ginger beer
Step1
Fill a tall glass with ice.
Step2
Pour in the dark rum.
Step3
Top the drink with ginger beer.
Step4
Garnish with lime wedge.

Tips & Warnings

  • You can also garnish this drink with an orange slice or lemon wheel.
  • Don't drink and drive.
