Things You'll Need:

  • Tom Collins glass
  • 7 fresh mint sprigs
  • ½ oz. sugared syrup
  • Handful of cubed ice
  • Cola or tea
  • Orange or lemon

  1. Step 1

    Put six of the fresh mint sprigs in the Collins glass. Now add a ½ oz. of sugared syrup and stir the mint leaves and syrup together.

  2. Step 2

    Pour a little cola or tea into the glass, enough to just cover the mint leaves and syrup. Stir this mixture together.

  3. Step 3

    Fill up the glass with ice cubes. Afterwards, fill to the top with the cola or tea. Use the swizzle stick to thoroughly mix the non-alcoholic Mint Julep.

  4. Step 4

    Add the final sprig of mint to the top of the glass. Garnish with a wedge of orange or lemon. This recipe makes one drink.

Tips & Warnings
  • One variation on this drink is to rub the top edge of the Tom Collins glass with a crushed mint leaf. The mint oils at the lip of the glass add to the southern charm of this cool summery beverage.
  • Using cola adds a lot of fizz and sugar to the drink which is not in the original. Strongly consider using tea to make a non-alcoholic Mint Julep.
