Difficulty: Easy

  • Tom Collins glass
  • Orange or lemon
  • 1/2 oz. sugared syrup
  • 7 fresh mint sprigs
  • Handful of cubed ice
  • Cola or tea
  • ½ oz. sugared syrup

Step1
Put six of the fresh mint sprigs in the Collins glass. Now add a ½ oz. of sugared syrup and stir the mint leaves and syrup together.
Step2
Pour a little cola or tea into the glass, enough to just cover the mint leaves and syrup. Stir this mixture together.
Step3
Fill up the glass with ice cubes. Afterwards, fill to the top with the cola or tea. Use the swizzle stick to thoroughly mix the non-alcoholic Mint Julep.
Step4
Add the final sprig of mint to the top of the glass. Garnish with a wedge of orange or lemon. This recipe makes one drink.

Tips & Warnings

  • One variation on this drink is to rub the top edge of the Tom Collins glass with a crushed mint leaf. The mint oils at the lip of the glass add to the southern charm of this cool summery beverage.
  • Using cola adds a lot of fizz and sugar to the drink which is not in the original. Strongly consider using tea to make a non-alcoholic Mint Julep.
