Cabin fever strikes again. As cold, rainy weather goes on and on, tempers are rising, irritation seems endless, the kids are driving you mad. Don’t go mad, get even—by playing indoor dodge ball. All it takes is a beach ball or two to end tension and get the laughter going. Follow these steps to learn how to play indoor dodge ball.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Sense of humor
  • Beach balls

Step1
Blow up one beach ball or several. One ball per player is fantastic.
Step2
Choose a room for indoor dodge ball with as few irreplaceable breakables or open coffee cups as possible. Remove those few objects to a safe zone during active play.
Step3
Gather participants.
Step4
Arm them with beach balls.
Step5
Explain the rule of the game. Throw the beach ball as hard as possible at your intended target. Then repeat.
Step6
Say “Ready, Set, Go” and begin throwing beach balls at other players.
Step7
End play when all players are dissolved into laughter on the floor, everyone is exhausted, or play is interrupted by concerned neighbors who heard screams and thought there was a massacre in process.
Step8
Repeat as needed to dispel cabin fever, family tension or office politics.

Tips & Warnings

  • Invite the nastiest of bosses and the most irritating of peers to play indoor dodge ball and sublimate that desire to bring an Uzi into the office.
  • The bigger the beach ball, the better the bounce.
  • Obtain beach balls in the summer season, when they are plentiful. In the dark of winter, just when you need a dozen beach balls to play indoor dodge ball, they are unattainable in stores. See the Resources section below for a link.
  • Always blow up balls completely and push in air valve before commencing play. An out set valve could cause pain on contact at high speeds.
