Things You'll Need:
- A pair of cat nailclippers, if you dont have any you can just use people nailclippers
- A cat
- Another person would probably help
-
Step 1
Calm and soothe your kitty with your clippers close by
-
Step 2
Rub his or her paws just to get them used to you touching their feet
-
Step 3
Press on their paw to make their claws go out
-
Step 4
Make sure you DO NOT cut the quick of your cats claws because it will start bleeding and hurt the cat, the quick is the pink part of the claw
-
Step 5
Cut each claw until it is about at the quick
-
Step 6
If your cat starts to get angry give him or her a break and cut the rest later

on 6/21/2007 Petite (our little 7 year old Persian) now is completely amenable..well most of the time..to getting 'daddy' to 'do' her mani and pedi - cure. Sometimes if she is a little rangy though we just do the front claws and leave the back ones for another day. She knows there are treats coming at the end, and we praise her to the hilt the entire time, and that makes the process easier too. Good advice from the EXpert. Anyone seen that joke about 'how to give your cat a pill??' hilarious!

on 6/3/2007 I find that when you use your method, my cat gives in and lets me cut his nails. Good stuff.

on 5/22/2007 good one, you should write an article on how to give your cat a bath, everytime I did it to my cat she would make sounds that were straight from the movie "The Excorsist." We tried to get her used to it as a kitten, but like most cats, she has a mind of her own haha.
