Qualify is a super easy to play game that can be whipped up with just five dice and a handful of friends. The betting can get creative, and the odds between the banker and the players are remarkably even. It is often played in bars where drinks are bet, but you can find it on other countertops in convenience stores for example. To learn how to play the bar game Qualify, just follow these steps.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Determine who is going to be banker. The position of banker will rotate from round to round.

  2. Step 2

Give the dice to the player on the banker's left. They begin play, and roll the dice five times. Each time, they set aside their highest die.

  3. Step 3

Add all of the dice-each the highest from its throw. If the sum is 25 or more, the player wins. When it is not, the dealer wins.

  4. Step 4

Calculate how much the player wins by using the payoff roll. In the payoff roll the player is assigned a number one through six. A score of 25 is one; a score of 26 is two and so on.

  5. Step 5

Roll the dice again, and the number of dice that come up matching the player's payoff number (three for 27, four for 28, etc.) is the ratio the dealer pays them off.

Tips & Warnings
  • An example of the payoff round might be a player rolling a 26, then rolling two twos. In this case the dealer will pay the player 2:1.
  • If playing in a bar, it's common practice to bet drinks instead of points or money.
  • It is also a very high-paced game. So, if you are betting drinks, pace yourself.
