How to Escape the Raincoat Cult in Dead Rising

While killing the psychos in raincoats is satisfying to be sure, there is always the danger of getting drugged and captured by them. If you do find yourself getting gassed and waking up in a wooden crate in naught but your undies, fear not! There is a way out of their bondage, though it isn't pleasant.

Difficulty: Challenging

Instructions

1. Grab the step ladder. This will be quite close to you, and should (hopefully) be within easy reach without setting any of them off. At the worst, you may draw the attention of 2-3 cultists.

2. Tiptoe out from your hiding spot until a cultist or 2 sees you and moves toward you.

3. Pull them back around the corner.

4. Use the step ladder to beat cultists until it breaks.

5. Use Jump Kicks and the Double Lariat on any cultists that have escaped the wrath of your step ladder.

6. Keep pulling cultists back around the shelves and laying waste to them until the room is mostly clear.

7. Run around until you find the Ceremonial Sword. Its placement is somewhat random, but it can usually be found on or near the stage the cultists have set up.

8. Use the sword to finish off the cultists and escape! Their little jail is the room attached to the movie theater, marked “Employees only”.

Tips & Warnings

• If you feel like being lazy and avoiding this whole mess to begin with, simply reload the game from the last save and attempt to avoid being drugged.

on 1/25/2008 It's not a bug, the cultists continually respawn until you kill the Cult Leader in the movie theater. You can't do this until you get the Scoop about a psycho in the movie theater. Once you take him out, the raincoat cultists will stop respawning.

on 4/13/2007 after the first time i met them when jessie was in the box, i killed all of the cultists around her. But i didn't see any others to kill when i was there.

Every time i go back in since there has been a swarm of cultists all the way through para.plaza trying to drug me.

How do i get rid of them once and for all, because i can't escort people due to the crowds of them.

i have heard of other people with the problem, but i haven't found a solution and i have been searching for ages
