How to Act Out Meeting Your Lover at a Bar

If you've noticed things getting a little predictable or even straight-out boring in the sack, it's time to liven things up with some role playing. You might try pretending that you are meeting your lover for the first time in a real bar and then embark on a "one-night stand."

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Make all your arrangements and plans ahead of time.

  2. Step 2

Decide on a place and time to meet.

  3. Step 3

Determine where you'll be heading afterward (but then make sure you later act as if there are no premade plans).

  4. Step 4

Twist it up by meeting at a hotel bar and booking a room there. Then later, when you "meet" at the bar and successfully hook up, you can be naughty and "break into" one of the rooms for a hot and steamy sex romp.

  5. Step 5

Figure out who's going to get picked up by whom. Usually the girl likes to be the one sitting at the bar, with the guy trying to pick her up. Spin it the other way around if you'd like.

  6. Step 6

Have the picker-upper practice a few pickup lines (alone) to try at the bar and have him/her buy the other a drink.

  7. Step 7

Add more dimension to your roles. Have the guy all alone at the bar, having been stood up, and the girl coming over to "comfort" him. Pretend there's a huge age difference between the two of you (you can even dress the part). She can pretend to be a slutty bar tramp or a tight-assed, uptight, conservative loner. He can be a shy, unlucky-in-love geek or a cocky stud.

Tips & Warnings
  • Think about costumes or outfits that fit the roles you've chosen. If you're going to be slutty, dress slutty. If you're going to be more conservative or businesslike, dress the part.
  • Don't make the game too easy. If the guy is trying to pick up the girl, the girl can play hard to get or even flirt with the bartender.
  • Don't plan out everything in advance. Leave some room for mystery, spontaneity and unpredictability. For example, do not rehearse any dialogue together.
  • Draw it out. You want this experience to last the night, so don't be in a big hurry to get out of the bar.
  • Make a few ground rules ahead of time, such as maximum bar time and whether or not it's okay to flirt with others.
  • Stop the game at any time if one or both of you starts to get uncomfortable, frustrated or angry. Be open and honest with your partner about your feelings.
