Choose a festival. The flagship event is PrideFest, usually held in June, and there are several smaller events throughout the year. For a calendar, visit the Web site of the Gay & Lesbian Community Center of Pittsburgh (see Resources below).
Step2
Travel. Pittsburgh International Airport has service from all the major airlines, plus discount carriers such as Southwest and Jetblue. The city is also easily accessible by bus, train and car.
Step3
Find lodging. While there isn't much in the way of gay-specific accommodations apart from a few bed and breakfasts, Pittsburgh has plenty of fine hotels, including the Sheraton Station Square and the Westin Convention Center.
Step4
Pack according to the season. For PrideFest in June, you'll need cooler clothes. For other events, check the weather before you visit.
Step5
Plan your activities. PrideFest has a Web site (see Resources below) that will include a schedule of events. Check out some of Pittsburgh’s many fine restaurants as well.
Step6
Check out the gay scene. It should be a lot of fun during a gay-pride event in Pittsburgh. You must hit the Pegasus if you want to go dancing. Wear something fabulous.
