Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
Step1
Visit the Website for IndyPride! or the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) to find events in Indianopolis and join the advocacy community (see Resources below). The festival usually takes place in June.
Step2
Walk the walk. You can visit the IndyPride Web site and apply to participate as a member of a walking group ($25 fee), or enter a parade float ($50). Vendors can access on-site PDF-format applications.
Step3
Know the route. The parade starts near the convergence of Mass Avenue & College, moves down Mass Avenue, turns onto Vermont Street and ends at University Park, the site of the festival.
Step4
Bring your appetite. All that marching may make you hungry. The festival features over 130 vendors, a food court and an alcohol/beverage tent. Afterwards, you can dance the night away at Talbott Street, a restaurant lounge on North Talbott Street and an official festival sponsor.
