Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
Step1
Visit the Website for SF Pride or the Human Rights Campaign (HRC) to find events in your area and join the advocacy community (see Resources below). You can also go online and read the "San Francisco Chronicle," an excellent resource.
Step2
Learn the route. The parade usually starts around Beale Street, goes up Market Street and ends around 8th Street. That can change from year-to-year, so check the route and find a spot to view the gala event.
Step3
Go Pink. The "Pink Party" is a rollicking event that takes place in the Castro district, just after the Dyke March. Revelers--as many as 200,000 of them--feast on great food and beverages until nearly dawn.
Step4
Nearly a million people attend this event so parking is a problem. You can park on the outskirts of San Francisco and take the BART (Bay Area Rapid Transit) to the festival, parade and parties. The event is usually staged in June so plan your visit to San Francisco for that month.
Visit the Web site "Only in San Francisco" to find accommodations that offer special packages during the festival (see Resources below).
