In a class with 400 people it can seem impossible to differentiate yourself from the rest of the students. There are some easy steps to make you stick out in the crowd and even get a better grade.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Always go to class. The first mistake many students make is skipping class.

  2. Step 2

If you sit in the first couple rows your professor will notice that you come regularly which is the first step to winning over your professor.

  3. Step 3

Go to your professor's office hours or talk to him after class. Ask him to clarify one small thing or ask him about career advice. Normally it will spark a longer conversation where your teacher will be able to get to know you better.

  4. Step 4

If your class is smaller than 50 people and you are unable to make it to class, email your professor instead of just skipping. This will show him that you care about the class and take it seriously.

  5. Step 5

Come prepared to class. Take notes and be attentive and ready to answer questions. Professors love it when someone else can participate and have a dialogue with him rather than just lecturing for hours.

Tips & Warnings
  • A good relationship with your professor is key if you want him to write a recommendation for you.
  • When your grade is borderline a professor is more likely to give you the better grade if he knows you.
