Write a How-To Article

So you are new to eHow.com and don't know where to start? It's easy to write your first How To article if you follow these easy steps.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer
  • Internet
  • An Idea
  1. Step 1

To begin writing your first article, you need a topic that you are already familiar with. Start with what you know and then branch out from there. Think about your hobbies, passions and interests. Your best articles will come from here.

  2. Step 2

Next, you need to register your account on www.eHow.com. Once you have a personal account, you can click on the "Contribute" tab on the top of your profile page.

  3. Step 3

Now that you have the article entry template open, you will see that the page is organized into an Introduction, Steps and Tips & Warnings. Now you need to divide your article into manageable steps.

  4. Step 4

A picture is worth a thousand words! After typing your article, you will want to add pictures to each step. You can obtain your pictures from anywhere on the net, as long as the photo is not copyrighted. Doing a Google image search is a great place to start. Once you save the picture on your computer, you can click on the "Attach Image" link located directly below each step and upload the appropriate picture.

  5. Step 5

After that, you'll want to include any additional Tips & Warnings that might be helpful to anyone who views your article.

  6. Step 6

Remember to use the Spell Check! There are Spell Check buttons located in several places throughout the article submission page.

  7. Step 7

Finally, you need to Save and Preview your article. If everything looks correct, then you can click the "Publish" button. Now you are a published author and your article can be viewed by anyone on the Internet. Congratulations!

Tips & Warnings
  • Always start with topics that you know. This will make the idea process faster and easier.
  • Divide the process into identifiable steps that are easy for the reader to follow.
  • Always include appropriate pictures for each step.
  • Be careful that your pictures do have a copyright stamp on them. It is easier to just find another picture than trying to contact the owner for permission.
  • Writing eHow articles might become addictive!

on 10/20/2009 What are people getting paid for articles they post? Would anyone be willing to quote just an average ballpark figure or range to give me some idea of how much time it would be profitable to spend posting on this site? Thanks
