Camping at the Obed National Wild and Scenic River in Tennessee will give you access to a wide variety of activities including calm paddling, white-water rafting, hiking, rock climbing and bouldering—plus a chance to kick back with family or friends without any of the normal day-to-day distractions.

Plan ahead. How long do you plan to be out camping? When do you want to camp?

Consider what other activities you will be taking part in.

Pack for your trip: gather your gear for camping and other activities as well as the food, water and clothing you will need during your stay.

The Rock Creek Campground at the Obed Wild and Scenic River offers 11 first-come, first-served campsites for $7 per night. The campground has port-a-potty toilets, no payphones and no electric hook-ups. Head the the park to select an available site and register for the campsite at the bulletin board.

If you don't want to camp in the immediate Obed area, plenty of independent campgrounds are available in the vicinity, from Knoxville to Lenoir City.

  • If you plan to fish at the Obed Wild and Scenic River, be sure that you obtain the necessary permits.
  • When you arrive, stop by the Visitor's Center for current information.
