Unfortunately for same-sex couples, many states still don’t recognize their right to marry. Whether you’re gay or straight, there are a variety of ways you can help raise public awareness for same-sex marriage in California.

Things You'll Need:

  • Computer with Internet access
  • Badges, T-shirts or bumper stickers
  1. Step 1

    Talk to friends, family and co-workers about same-sex marriage issues. Discuss reasons why it’s important that gay people have the right to an officially-recognized relationship.

  2. Step 2

    Write letters to your local newspapers or other publications to air your views and prompt discussion about same-sex marriage.

  3. Step 3

    Get a bumper sticker, badge or T-shirt and wear it with pride!

  4. Step 4

    Create an email signature with a link to a Web site such as “Gay Marriage News” or “Equality California.”

  5. Step 5

    Join an advocate group in your area and take part in activities such as rallies, marches or fund-raising.
