Whether you serve beer, cocktails or blended drinks at your bar, you’ll need to have the right fruit. Every drink seems to call for a slice of something. Wheat beer requires an orange, Mexican beers need a lime, rum and Cokes need a lemon and margaritas blend everything from pineapples to strawberries and bananas. Here’s how to stock your bar with the right fruit.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

Step1
Decide what kind of alcohol your bar will serve. The fruit you will need depends on the type of alcohol you plan on serving. Decide if you are going to have a full service bar or whether you are going to focus on just beers, wines or blended drinks.
Step2
Get a drink recipe book. Once you have an idea of the type of drinks you want to have available, get a recipe book that explains the ingredients needed for each drink.
Step3
As you look at the recipes and ingredients, write down any fruit that you will need. Make sure you also note how much of each fruit you will need.
Step4
Don’t forget the olives. Although not in the fruit and produce section, olives are a must for Martinis and Bloody Marys.

Tips & Warnings

  • Consider replacing some fruit with fruit juices, as fruit juice has a longer life span.
  • Cut the fruit up prior to your party and keep it chilled in separate bowls in the refrigerator.
  • Always have some lemons, oranges and lime wedges cut up for people who like to add this to their beer or mixed drink.
  • Always wash the fruit before you serve it.
