Instructions

    • 1

Decide what kind of alcohol your bar will serve. Are you going to have a full service bar or specialize in a niche like beers or wines?

    • 2

Get a drink recipe book. Once you know what drinks you want to have available, buy a recipe book that shows the ingredients needed for each particular drink.

    • 3

Make a list of what you need. As you browse the recipes and ingredients in the book, write down the types of alcohol you will need. Make sure you also note how much of each type you will need.

    • 4

Go shopping. Take your list and head to the nearest grocery or liquor store.

    • 5

Set up the alcohol. Put your beers and white wines in the refrigerator. Place your wine bottles and hard alcohol on a shelf or other place that can clearly be seen by guests.

Tips & Warnings

  • Consider keeping one sample of each beer you buy out and placed on the shelf so people know what kind of beer you have.

  • Have some of the most popular blended drinks prepared and kept in the freezer or refrigerator.

  • Always have some lemons, oranges and lime wedges cut up and available on the bar for people who like to add these to their beer or mixed drink.

  • Pour the drinks yourself so you don't run out of alcohol.

  • If you are displaying the alcohol on shelves, be sure the shelves are properly attached to the wall and are able to hold the weight of the bottles.
